 Highlights from my recent trip to Jacksonville, Illinois for an Illinois Main Street meeting. The Wall Dog Mural project that they have is really, really cool! I think we need some murals too :).

Recent facade update in downtown Canton!

Out and about for Main Street!

I've had the pleasure to travel to Canton and Jacksonville this month to meet with other Illinois Main Street folks as well as Amy Martin, Interim Director of Illinois Main Street. It was neat to see how the facade programs and other TIF loan programs are working in other towns as well as to see some of the public art projects that they have as well. I took some pictures of the buildings and murals in both Canton and Jacksonville and will post them on here soon!

These trips gave me lots of ideas and I hope to implement them here for us! Stay tuned - there is always new stuff on the horizon for Pekin Main Street.

Ghosts will be flying in downtown Pekin!

Today was a very busy day for Pekin Main Street - and a bit haunted at that too! There was no school today as it is Columbus Day, so I was able to wrangle up two young Main Street volunteers to help me make 30 ghosts that are going to hover around the downtown light poles for our annual halloween event. We had a great time making ghosts and they are going to look fabulous!

Many, many thanks to Catie and Theresa for spending their day off with me today and helping out Pekin Main Street!

The ghosts will be making their grand flight into downtown next week! Don't get scared!
